All geared up for Austin

Ready or not, we are heading out to Austin bright and early tomorrow morning. It has been such an amazing and eventful year, and I can't imagine it any other way.

We started 2012 by moving out of our townhouse and adjusting to life as new parents. Our parents housed all of us (Georgia included) for the first few months of the year. The time we spent with them, Boogie's other grandparents too, is invaluable, and we are forever grateful for their support! We found out we were expecting baby #2, and were thrilled to learn that Boogie would have a little brother soon enough. Hubby turned 30 and became a student again in pursuit of his MBA. Remodeling our new house was an adventure all in itself... who knew it could be so tedious and exhausting?! We were blessed with baby #2, BB (as we like to call him), and celebrated Boogie's first birthday. Thanksgiving, Christmas and new year... and now a new city!

Here's to a prosperous new year! May God bless! Love y'all

Playdate

Playdates with cousins are the best! Especially because Boogie's cousins are a bit older and can show him the ropes. :)

Cheese Face

Tonight was Boogie's first time eating queso... Let's just say he loves it! So much so that he was dragging his fingers through it and stuffing his little face faster than we could blink. It was all over his hands and he started to rub it on his cheeks, nose, hair, everywhere! We had to pry it out of his little hands before it glued his eyes shut.

Tree of lights

This tree outside of River Oaks Cc is amazing. I've never seen anything quite like it. Every last limb on this thing is lit, and its truly enchanting! Boogie was in awe of the lights, and we've been on a Christmas light tour every night since. :)

A man of many stripes

BB in all of his stripes glory

Tis the season to be merry!

Boogie has really been getting into the holiday spirit. Today he sported his Charlie Brown Christmas shirt, and drove around the neighborhood in his little red car checking out holiday decorations. He even helped me wrap a few gifts. :)

Another Santa spotting!

After breakfast today, we spotted Santa in the parking lot. Who knew he drove around in a car while not delivering presents??

All the kids

First thing every morning, we all hang out for a while and "catch up". N always tries to play with Georgia, and she usually tolerates it for about five minutes before jumping off the bed completely annoyed.

This morning was particularly funny and notable because Georgia seemed to have turned a corner in letting N play with her. For the longest time she has been indifferent and disinterested in being N's best pal. Maybe he's finally starting to grow on her, or maybe she realizes she better adapt soon or else she'll be spending most of her days without much attention. She's always been -- and still is -- our baby, but there is an inevitable shift of attention when babies come along.

What's the best way to make sure everyone gets along? We gave Georgia hospital blankets the boys had used in hopes that she become familiar with their scents before bringing them home. That seemed to work ok, but it's not like she was jumping for joy when they came through the door. Sometimes Boogie will chase her around the house -- his new favorite mode of transportation is walking -- and she'll get all wound up to where I can't tell if she's excited to play or about to bite our heads off. She's been a real trooper since day 1. I just always supervise them together just in case one of them gets too rowdy.

So how do you bring your pets and babies into a loving relationship together??

Cold weather finally hits Houston!

The cold has finally arrived! N and I couldn't wait to venture out to Babies R Us in our winter gear. Boogie donned his daddy's cap from when he was a little guy, and looked so handsome!

Happy 5 year anniversary to us!

December 8th is a very special day for us. It marks our wedding anniversary of that amazing night we shared with family and friends in Santa Fe five years ago.

I can't believe it's been 5 years! O and I were talking about how much has happened recently. Moving, having your first child, pursuing a graduate degree, moving again, having your second baby, and most recently, moving to a new city! It's a lot, but thankfully it's been a fun -- yet crazy -- experience the whole way through. And we're still experiencing it! We start the new year in Austin, and we cant't wait. :)

Cheers to the next five years and beyond!

Photo with Santa 2012

I took the boys to the Galleria today for their first photo with Santa Claus. Boogie was not pleased! In fact, while standing in line I realized that any child between the ages of 4 months and 4 years did not want to be anywhere near him. What is it about Santa that terrifies the little ones?

Looking forward to having these annual photos to see how the boys change from year to year.

Boxes and boxes

I think it's hilarious that we spend all this money on fancy educational and interactive toys when what kids really love are the boxes that they come in!
